Another tiny web server

TUE, 01 SEP 2009

In May, I talked about HTTPi.  HTTPi is a really tiny (single file) web server developed in Perl.  Well, I found a smaller and easier web server, thanks this post from Linux Journal.

Since it's included in Python, you may already have it installed.  Simply executing "python -m SimpleHTTPServer" will get you a web server listening on port 8000 that will server any files inside the current directory.

If you want to do some testing using static content, this may be the right tool.  This can also be a good choice for an embedded device if Python is already included in it.
